Rick King, Curtis’ attorney and a former police union official, said he doesn’t know if the union has enough money to pay Curtis, who earned about $90,000 a year. Jacqueline LaVoie is also representing Curtis.
“Rick wasn’t represented fairly,” King said. “(The union) didn’t take his issue and progress it forward like they’re supposed to in helping him to be represented when he has an issue with the city. The whole purpose of collective bargaining is so the little guy has a chance to bargain against the city.”
